An existing W21x steel beam per plan connects to an existing ten-inch concrete wall and six-inch concrete slab. The existing concrete is chipped away to expose the existing beam reinforcement without damaging it, and the concrete wall surface is roughened per the specified standard. Three three-quarter-inch diameter by four-inch long welded Nelson studs are spaced at twelve inches on center along the member. Welded deformed bar anchors match the size and spacing of the vertical wall reinforcement and are aligned with the centerline of the existing steel beam. Epoxy dowels are installed with a four-inch embedment at six inches on center, supplemented by new wall reinforcement per elevation. A four-inch maximum core is provided at five feet minimum on center as required to pour concrete.
