A wide-flange beam connects to an HSS column through a welded shear plate and two rows of bolts. The connection utilizes a 1-1/2 inch thick ASTM A1066 Grade 65 plate with a 4-inch diameter hole centered on the HSS, welded with complete joint penetration top and bottom. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds secure the components. Additional shear plates with two rows of bolts provide framing attachments per plan.
