A structural gusset plate passes through a slotted hollow structural section or pipe column member. The slot termination features a radiused cutout defined as half the gusset plate thickness. Erection clearance is maintained around the plate with a one-sixteenth-inch gap on each side. Additional reinforcement is included as required by structural design calculations.
