A steel beam frames into a hollow structural section column with a minimum one-half inch clearance. Three-eighths-inch web stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web and flange using quarter-inch fillet welds. The transverse collector beam aligns at the column per plan. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the beam to the hollow structural section column.
