The boundary element reinforcement for a concrete shear wall is located adjacent to a door opening. The boundary element spans two feet wide within a one-foot two-inch thick wall and incorporates eight number five vertical reinforcing bars. Confining reinforcement consists of number four closed ties and crossed ties spaced at five inches on center with one and a half inches of typical clear cover. General wall reinforcement continues per the wall elevation reference. The maximum door opening dimension is four feet six inches.
