A horizontal sleeve passes through a reinforced concrete beam to accommodate utility penetrations. Penetrations are restricted to the middle third of the span and the middle third of the beam elevation, with locations subject to engineer review. Penetrations are prohibited in cable net beams. Where multiple penetrations occur in a beam, the clear distance between each penetration must equal at least the depth of the beam.
NOTES: 1. PENETRATIONS TO BE LOCATED WITHIN THE MIDDLE THIRD OF THE SPAN AND MIDDLE THIRD OF THE BEAM ELEVATION. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT ALL LOCATIONS (SHOWING PLAN, ELEVATION, SIZE) FOR ENGINEER REVIEW. 2. PENETRATIONS NOT PERMITTED IN CABLE NET BEAMS. 3. WHERE MULTIPLE PENETRATIONS OCCUR IN A BEAM, PROVIDE A MINIMUM DISTANCE EQUAL TO THE DEPTH OF THE BEAM BETWEEN EACH PENETRATION. SECTION HORIZ BM SLEEVE 17 HORIZONTAL SLEEVE IN CONCRETE BEAM
