This control joint detail for a concrete masonry unit wall incorporates open-end masonry blocks at the joint with sawcutting as required. Continuous horizontal reinforcing bars pass directly through the control joint. Additional vertical reinforcement consisting of one number four vertical bar is placed on each side of the joint. The joint is sealed with an elastomeric sealant backed by a backer rod, maintaining a typical sealant depth equal to one-half the width of the head joint.
