A structural steel beam frames into a hollow structural section tube column sized per plan with a half-inch clearance gap. Two L4x4x1/2 angles eight inches long serve as seat and top clip angles connecting the beam web or flanges to the column face. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds secure the angles to the column face and the beam. Additional field welds join the connection elements typical at both column and beam locations.
