An MC18x42.7 steel channel extension is attached to the stair stringer and frames into the landing assembly. Three 7/8-inch diameter bolts fasten an angle per plan to the landing support, with the horizontal leg coped at the weld connection. A 3/8-inch by 2-inch by 8-inch steel plate and stiffener plates per plan reinforce the connection, which is secured with 3/16-inch welds typically. All welds are ground smooth to achieve an architecturally pleasing finish, and the pan deck features an upturned edge at the landing.
