An elevator separator steel tube beam frames into a structural steel beam beneath a concrete slab poured over a steel deck. A one-quarter-inch steel weld plate is welded to each side of the steel tube beam. The connection is detailed with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds applied on three sides typically. Clearances of one inch and four inches are maintained around the separator beam configuration.
