Cold-formed metal studs terminate below the structural floor slab with a drift and deflection joint allowing three-quarters of an inch minimum to one inch maximum movement. A continuous 18-gauge track receives the studs while gypsum sheathing remains unsecured into the track. A DriftClip DSL by The Steel Network or equivalent pre-manufactured connection hardware accommodates vertical deflection and inelastic story drift. A continuous L7x4x1/2 angle supports the assembly, secured with an L2x2x18-gauge clip at each stud using three number twelve screws into the stud and three 0.157-inch diameter fasteners into the wide-flange beam flange.
