A wide flange beam frames into an intermediate hollow structural section beam with a coped top flange as shown. A three-eighths-inch thick bearing plate matching the flange width sits between the members. Wide flange beam stiffeners are welded to each side of the hollow structural section beam using a field weld. Support angles and concrete slab thickness and metal deck size and gauge are sized per plan and referenced on sheet 5/S221.
