Embedded plate connection assemblies SEP-1 and SEP-2 detail steel plates welded with complete joint penetration welds subjected to ultrasonic testing and anchored by deformed reinforcing bars. Assembly SEP-1 utilizes twelve number six reinforcing bars measuring ten feet long of ASTM A706 steel tied to typical plates with three-eighths inch fillets using E80 electrodes. Assembly SEP-2 incorporates fourteen number six reinforcing bars measuring ten feet long of ASTM A706 steel. Plate orientation is referenced to sheet J1/S-557 at grid 3.
