A hollow structural section beam frames into the flange and web of a wide flange column utilizing top and bottom structural angles sized L4x4x1/2. The angles are sized according to column width minus 1-1/2 inches at top and bottom, or column depth minus 2-1/2*k at the web. A maximum one-half inch clearance is maintained between the beam end and the column face. Fillet welds of 5/16 inch are applied to both sides where the angles connect to the column, and 1/4 inch welds secure the angles and beam flange connections on three sides as indicated.
