Steel joists bear onto a steel joist girder beneath metal decking specified per plan. A seven-eighths-inch by four-and-one-half-inch by zero-foot-ten-inch long knife plate is positioned between the top chords and welded to the joist with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld at three inches. At the joist girder condition, an L nine by five by five-sixteenths bent plate (long leg horizontal where called out on plan) is attached to alternating top chords with two rows of fasteners specified on sheet C/SD6. The knife plate connects to the joist with a one-eighth-inch weld at four inches, and the bent plate connects to the girder with a three-sixteenths-inch weld at one-and-one-half inches on twelve-inch centers. Steel joist girder braces are provided where specified by the manufacturer.
