A hollow structural section stringer connects to an HSS header framed into a structural assembly, supported from below by an HSS post. A 3/8-inch steel plate caps the HSS post and welds to the underside of the header with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on all sides, maintaining a one-half-inch typical setback. The stringer is sized per plan and welded to the header assembly with one-quarter-inch fillet welds.
