This vertical expansion joint assembly for a concrete masonry unit wall utilizes slotted end blocks to accommodate a PVC water stop. The joint is sealed on the exterior face with a backing rod and caulk. At the top of the wall, a single 1/2-inch diameter by 32-inch long smooth greased dowel is installed at each bond beam, with one end greased to allow for movement. Bond beam reinforcing bars are specified to remain continuous through the joint. Typical vertical reinforcement is provided in the grouted cells on each side of the joint.
