A structural steel column connects to a skewed beam using a skewed shear plate welded to the column flange with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld on each side. A three-quarter-inch continuity plate of the same depth as the skewed shear plate is provided where required, though it is omitted at box columns. Working points and centerlines establish alignment for the framing members. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds secure the connection components typical to the assembly.
