A skewed steel beam frames into a supporting beam per plan using connection plates and fillet welds. The supported beam flanges are coped as required, with a backing bar installed at the joint where indicated. A work point is established per plan for the angular intersection. Where the skew angle exceeds sixty degrees, the connection plate is welded on each side with fillet welds sized per schedule, utilizing standard connections or high-load connection details.
