This assembly consists of a 4-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel base plate supporting a wide-flange column. The connection is secured by nine 2-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 fully threaded anchor rods, each featuring a 3-foot embedment depth and a 3-1/4 inch diameter hole in the base plate. Each anchor rod is paired with a 3/4-inch by 5-inch square plate washer with a standard hole. The column is attached to the base plate using complete joint penetration welds with double-sided continuous welds. A shear lug is positioned below the base plate to resist lateral forces, and 1-inch diameter inspection holes are provided in the plate for quality control.
