A concrete stair on grade is supported by a thickened footing with a ten-inch width and twelve-inch depth reinforced with two number four bars. The stair slab includes number four bottom reinforcing at sixteen inches on center, number three bars at twelve inches on center, and a number three nosing bar at each step, along with number four bottom reinforcing below each riser. A continuous three-quarter-inch by five-inch keyway connects the stair assembly to the building wall or cheek wall, tied with number four dowels at twelve inches on center featuring standard hooks and class A lap splices. Where a cheek wall is required, an eight-inch thick concrete wall with number four bars at twelve inches on center each way is provided.
