A continuous top track caps the vertical stud framing below while supporting the framing members at an offset floor level. The floor joist bears against a rim track that is attached according to typical details. A rim track reinforcing member matching the floor joist size, minimum 1000S162-54, is nested within the assembly and extends to within one-half inch of the stud on each side. Three number 10 self-tapping metal screws spaced at six inches on center secure the connection, starting three-quarters of an inch maximum from each end. A stud beyond is positioned behind the track assembly.
