A buckling-restrained brace connects to a steel column and beam frame through a gusset plate at the roof level. A slotted gusset plate receives the brace, with typical stiffener plates provided on the near side and far side as required by the manufacturer. Additional stiffener plates are located within the steel column web and along the beam flanges. Complete joint penetration welds are specified at the beam and column flanges, with the gusset and brace attachment designed by the specialty manufacturer.
