Steel beams frame into a hollow structural section steel column utilizing a cap plate at the top flange and complete joint penetration welds typically throughout the assembly. Continuity plates align internally with the column flanges to transfer flange forces across the joint. Bolted shear tabs connect the beam webs to the column face.
