A continuous steel beam frames into one side of a structural steel column with Grade 50 continuity plates welded horizontally inside the column web opposite the beam flanges. The continuity plate thickness is equal to one-half of the beam flange thickness with a one-half-inch minimum. A bolted shear tab connects the beam web to the column flange, while the beam flanges are welded directly to the column face.
