A structural steel buckling-restrained brace connects to a frame beam and column with a gusset plate and welded shear tab. A doubler plate is added to the column web as required by the brace manufacturer, alongside top and bottom continuity plates with demand-critical welds. The shear tab thickness equals the beam web thickness plus one-quarter inch. Free edge stiffeners are installed on the gusset plate where required per the manufacturer design. All designated welds are specified as demand critical.
