The top connection of a hollow structural section post supports an overhead door frame. A three-eighths-inch plate is welded to each side of the HSS post with a one-and-a-half-inch vertical slotted hole. Seven-eighths-inch diameter through-bolts are centered on the post and installed finger-tight with damaged threads to allow vertical movement. A quarter-inch cap plate seals the top of the post with a three-sixteenths-inch weld. The girt connects to the post plates aligning with the grid centerline and coordinated with overhead door requirements.
