This structural detail shows a concrete slab blockout surrounding a column per plan, which can be a wide-flange or structural steel shape where it occurs. Control joints are detailed per sheet 12/S-301 and are configured to stop short of the column blockout. A single number four reinforcing bar is centered typically in the slab and terminates short of the joint. Infill concrete is specified to be cast after the control joints are installed. A minimum six-inch clearance dimension is maintained around the column blockout area.
