A hollow structural section column is welded to a base plate anchored into a concrete foundation with a minimum embedment of one foot zero inches. The top of the hollow structural section column connects to an overhead steel member with a quarter-inch fillet weld, accompanied by a quarter-inch closure plate at the edge. The column size is specified per plan.
