An embed angle measuring L6x4x3/8 by slab depth is cast into the concrete slab with two 1/2-inch diameter by 8-inch headed stud anchors and two number 4 by 24-inch A706 dowels. A 1/4 by 6 by 0'-6-inch plate welded to the angle connects to the hollow structural section beam using a 1/4 by 4 by 0'-6-inch plate secured with two 3/4-inch diameter through-bolts in horizontal short slotted holes. A maximum 1/2-inch gap is maintained between the steel beam and the concrete edge with a 3/16-inch fillet weld connecting the plate to the angle.
