A hollow structural section beam frames into a hollow structural section column supporting a cross-laminated timber deck per plan. A splice plate as scheduled is positioned at the intersection, while a lateral tie plate connects the structural steel members. Five-sixteenth inch fillet welds join the assembly. A half-inch by five-inch by one-foot two-inch steel plate is fastened with screws per plan and sheet S5.6.1.
