A structural steel beam frames into the web of a column using a shear tab welded to the column flange and bolted to the beam web. Three-quarter inch top and bottom plates attach to the column flange with five-sixteenth inch fillet welds, with one-half inch plates specified for W10x or smaller beams. A second row of bolts is included where applicable, and edge distances and bolt spacings follow standard American Institute of Steel Construction specifications. Clearances comply with the 'K1' dimension per the American Institute of Steel Construction manual.
