A six-inch concrete slab is reinforced with number four bars spaced at eighteen inches on center. A two-inch diameter pipe sleeve is embedded ten inches into the concrete to receive the handrail where required. A three-inch square by one-quarter-inch embed plate is welded to the sleeve at the base and the annular space is filled with non-shrink grout. The edge footing is reinforced with horizontal and vertical number four rebars with a three-inch typical clearance. Finish grade transitions externally according to civil specifications.
