Reinforcing bars in concrete masonry bond beams are detailed with lap splices and standard hook configurations. The 180-degree hook incorporates a bend diameter D with an extension of four bar diameters or two and one-half inches minimum. The 135-degree hook requires an extension of six bar diameters or two and one-half inches minimum. Standard hook requirements vary by bar size, specifying six bar diameters or two and one-half inches minimum for bars less than or equal to number five, and twelve bar diameters for bars greater than or equal to number six. Lap splice lengths are designated by Lcmu and Le parameters.
