A wide flange column connects to a steel beam using a top and bottom plate configuration welded and bolted in place. Three-quarter inch diameter A325N bolts secure the connection through the plate, spaced per usual gage dimensions with one and a half inch minimum edge distances. One-half inch thick stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web using three-sixteenth inch fillet welds on three sides. The connection assembly incorporates minimum welds per AISC specifications for the web and flanges, with plate widths sized as required or matching the beam flange width.
