A typical framing condition for a non-composite metal deck opening less than six feet wide perpendicular to the deck span is provided. A channel header is supported by an L8x4x1/2 by zero foot six inch long leg vertical angle, which is welded to the top flange with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld. The channel web is connected to the angle using three-sixteenths inch fillet welds on both sides. Clearances at the opening range from zero to three inches typical, with a maximum one-inch deck opening dimension specified. Deck attachment to the support follows a separate deck attachment diagram.
