A cross-laminated timber panel connects to a hollow structural section column and beam assembly using steel plates and mechanical fasteners. An eight-millimeter plate is welded to the hollow structural section column and secured to the cross-laminated timber panel with screws. A sixteen-millimeter plate acts as a connection component with a grid of fasteners spaced eighty millimeters typical along the principal axis. The support configuration accommodates a design shear force of eighty kilonewtons. Connection design is provided by the mass timber fabricator per plan and schedule requirements.
