Vertical cold-formed metal studs spaced at sixteen inches on center maximum receive a horizontal un-punched metal stud backing track sized 600S162-54 with flanges cut to clear the studs. The backing track attaches to each intersecting metal stud using four number ten sheet metal screws at each end. Backing track splices require a lap spanning the full width of the stud.
