An HSS beam frames into a structural steel column flange with a maximum one-half-inch gap. Top and bottom L4x4x3/8 angles span the width of the column flange and are welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A three-eighths-inch by three-inch plate is welded to the end of the HSS beam with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds.
