Metal deck bears directly on the top flange of a structural steel beam and is secured with three-quarter-inch diameter puddle welds at one foot six inches on center. A formed steel edge plate with a four-inch vertical leg connects to the deck and beam, with plate thickness varying from three-sixteenths to three-eighths of an inch based on span length per the accompanying plate table. The assembly requires a three-inch minimum bearing width and is detailed with specific fillet weld sizes and spacing.
