Beam web penetrations are restricted to the middle half of the beam length and must maintain a minimum distance of twelve inches from any adjacent beam connection. Circular openings are limited to a maximum diameter of one-third the beam depth, with rectangular openings limited to two-thirds the beam depth in height. Clear spacing between adjacent holes requires a minimum of twelve inches or two-and-a-half times the hole size. Field cutting is prohibited without prior approval, and all penetrations larger than two inches in diameter and spaced closer than three times the diameter must be submitted to the engineer for review.
