Steel beams of differing depths frame into opposite flanges of a central column using bolted single plate shear connections and welded flange plates. The shear tab thickness equals the beam web thickness plus one-quarter inch, with bolt sizing and counts detailed on plan. Continuity plates match the larger of the two connecting beam flange thicknesses (TF1 or TF2) and weld to the column top and bottom flanges. A sloped bottom plate accommodates depth transitions when the elevation difference is less than three inches, and secondary rows of bolts are provided as required by plan.
