An HSS6x4 beam connects to an HSS4x4 hanger suspended from a wide-flange beam sized per plan. The hanger is welded to the wide-flange beam bottom flange with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. Two three-quarter inch diameter machine bolts connect the HSS6x4 beam to the lower portion of the hanger with vertical spacings of one and a half inches and three inches. A field weld symbol specifies a one-quarter inch weld on three sides typically at the connection interface. A one-eighth inch cap plate shaped to match the HSS6x4 beam is provided at the end.
