A 1/4-inch cap plate is extended and bent to serve as a hanger support centered on the column line. A 3/8-inch stiffener plate is aligned with the centerline of the beam below. A beam per plan connects with a maximum 1/2-inch gap and 1/2-inch clearance. Fillet welds of 1/4-inch size are specified on three sides and at the plate connections.
