A non-bearing stud wall terminates below flat roof joists spaced at forty-eight inches on center, providing a one-inch vertical deflection clearance above the top of the stud. A slip track is fastened to each side of each stud using number eight screws typically. Flat joists extend their webs to fasten to adjacent joist flanges with two number ten screws on each side. Four number ten screws secure the blocking to the track assembly.
