A metal deck splice joint bears on a structural steel beam. The metal deck panels require a two-inch minimum bearing length typically, with end and intermediate support welds installed per schedule. Longitudinal support welds secure the deck edges along the beam flange. A note specifies a two-inch minimum lap requirement for beam flanges less than two inches in width.
