A structural steel canopy column connects to a beam sized per plan using a three-eighths by four-inch by zero-foot-six-inch plate secured by two five-eighths-inch diameter bolts in vertical slotted holes. The connection includes a cap plate welded to the top of the column with quarter-inch fillet welds. A separate beam-to-column connection located lower on the shaft is detailed per sheet S601.
