A hollow structural section member measuring 6 inches by 4 inches is supported on a continuous 1/2-inch by 12 1/2-inch steel plate, sized per plan. The structural steel tube is welded to the continuous plate using three-sixteenths inch fillet welds spaced at 8 inches on center on both sides. Dimensions locate the steel member 6 inches from the edge of the plate, with a 6 1/2-inch extension.
