An HSS6x4 separator beam connects to a concrete elevator pit wall using a half-inch embed plate secured by two three-quarter-inch diameter welded studs. An L8x6x1/2 angle with long legs vertical is welded to the embed plate and the hollow structural section with a three-inch minimum fillet weld. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld secures the HSS to the angle. The assembly anchors the separator beam flush against the top of the concrete face of the elevator pit wall.
