Core wall vertical reinforcement extends into the mat foundation using dowels sized and spaced to match the shear wall vertical reinforcing. Wall tie reinforcement including hoops and crossties extends a minimum of twelve inches into the top of the mat foundation and throughout any pits within the mat. Hook dowels or headed bars are provided at the contractor's option for anchorage into the foundation.
